You will pass through villages and pastures, along historic mule tracks made of stone and paths leaning on the rock.
You will walk straddling the ridge between Val Grande and Lake of Mergozzo and you will appreciate Monte Faiè, diving board over the lakes, a unique panorama.
At your feet the Lake of Mergozzo and just over the Lake Maggiore and farther the Lake of Orta.
Enjoy the walk and the local hospitality: great views and local tasty specialities will be the memories you will have of this wonderful excursion.
From the hamlet of Bracchio starts the steep mule track leading to Alpe Vercio, beautiful balcony on the Ossola Valley and over the Lake of Mergozzo.
Continue on the steep path leading to Colma di Vercio and then along the western ridge you will shortly arrive to the top of Monte Faiè where you will enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Lake Maggiore.
From Monte Faiè go down the eastern ridge into a beech woods up to the path leading to Alpe Ompio where it is possible to stop at the refuge C.A.I. “Fantoli”, stopping place of the itinerary "Alta Via del Lago Maggiore", the upper route of Lake Maggiore.
Continuing on the path towards Alpe Ruspesso you reach the asphalted road from where, immediately on the right, you will take the path leading you back to Vercio and then Bracchio.
In the summer it is useful to have the necessary water supply for the climb and you should leave before 10 AM.
