You will walk along the paths that the inhabitants of the Caprezzo community have walked for centuries going up to the mountain pastures.
You will cross the old center of the village with its stone-paved streets and its old wash houses, then you will go up the mule track.
You will discover the thrill to go into a mysterious beech forest to get to the "mountain of the stars": Monte Turrioni, famous for the night observation of celestial constellations and for the view over Lake Maggiore and the Intrasca Valley.
You will cross the sunny alpine pastures Ad Vel and A Pont and you will find yourself immersed in the chestnut woods following the trail dotted with devotional chapels frescoed with delicate colours.
Enjoy the beauties of Caprezzo!
From the car-park of the 16th century church of San Bartolomeo go up along the road and after the "Circolo di Caprezzo" follow Via Intragna then along the stone-paved street Via delle Fonti.
Along this characteristic route you can admire two old wash houses, perfectly preserved.
Continue along the well marked itinerary leading to the upper square dominated by Cà Buruss, old building characterized by three kinds of loggias.
A few more steps along the paved mule track and you will suddenly be on the path leading to the alpine pastures with a smooth ascent.
The first is l'Alpe Cavana, with its fresh water source, and after a short climb alpe Ad Vel, beautiful view point.
You must stop to the characteristic chapel: wander through the meadows, discover beautiful views over the Lake Maggiore and the mountains of Val Grande.
The last climbing stretch leads to the asphalted road to follow until Cappella Porta, departing point for the ascent to the well-known Pian Cavallone.
From the large square take the path at the side of the small building and after about 10 minutes you will be at the top of Monte Turrioni, a fascinating place.
The larches and leafy beech trees, the panorama over the lake and the mountains, the pastures: these are all the memories you will take back with you.
Return on your feet continuing on the road up to Alpe Pont and then through the meadows until the path leading to Alpe Tremisino.
During the short descent on the track you will pass three beautiful chapels, convincing evidence of a past of devotion and art.
You will shortly arrive in Caprezzo, where the wash houses will refresh you.
