Terre Alte Laghi

Along this circular itinerary, with departure and arrival in Alpe Segletta of Aurano, you will discover a series of environmental and cultural heritage characterizing the entire Intrasca Valley. Called the "civilization of labour", it was also the civilization of the alpine community  and brotherhood, an example of commons management according to clear and shared rules.

The “curt” have always been the pastures close to the villages, and for Aurano it was the only possibility for alpine pasture, now above them there is the “Lago Maggiore Zipline”, modern element of a sustainable attraction and new opportunity to “return” to the mountain.

The path develops around a modern element of attraction: the "Lago Maggiore Zipline", a steel cable stretched between two mountains to fly into the greenery, wanted by the village of Aurano and created in 2015.

A means of transport in the past and today an attraction: in any case, at the center there is always the mountain.

You leave from the car park of Segletta and after a short stretch on the asphalted road for Piancavallo follow the track on the left leading to the pastures.

Soon the road becomes a trail and you will enter a fascinating world, surrounded by monumental beeches and  fresh water streams: we are in the heart of the  Intrasca Valley where once life was punctuated by the calls between the mountain pastures.

Along the itinerary the “curt” are facing in the valley and they are all crossed by the same route, up to the viewpoint of Pianale, where a stop is necessary in front of the breathtaking panorama.

Continue going down to alpe Calpera and then to the "batua" (point of arrival) of a cableway, and after towards alpe Cassinaccia and thus in the fresh torrent.

Immediately after the wooden bridge, nestled between the irresistible water ponds you will be enchanted in front of the little chapel called the chapel of the "Mater Dolorosa", an example of devotion of the alpine populations, with its particular architectural design and a very delicate fresco.

The return is on the flat trail leading back to the starting point.

...and if you hear someone screaming in the valley: don’t worry, it might be a tourist flying with the Zipline!
